I have done a quick look up of a list basic human rights we ought to have, basically they are lined out like these:
Right to Life, Right to Freedom from Torture, Right to Freedom from Slavery, Right to Privacy, Right to Fair Work, Right to Freedom of Expression...
They are just too boring, everyone knew ... but what? Freedom of Expression?
Freedom speech is a weird kid in this category, since it has never been protected anywhere in the world, let alone Australia, it has always been, and only been, just a slogan. Why? because you will face no consequences taking this right away from another person.
In contrast, all other basic human rights, if you violate them, you are going to jail for a good time:
"Right to Life", if you take this away, that is murder, in some countries it is capital punishment.
"Free from Slavery", no doubt we have a few laws, even the remote kid napping law can do a thing or two on this one.
As for privacy and fairwork, no problem, try to film someone without consent or hire someone not paying him and see what happens.
The only exception is, "Right to Freedom of Expression". We have seen employee fired for criticizing government, whistle-blower jailed, journalist home raided by police for expressing their opinions, and all these are still happening, in Australia, right now.
Not only this right is not protected by law at all, but the state and powerful organizations can violate you rights to fair work, to privacy, and when jailed, rights to live, when you try to use your "rights to free speech", what a joke!
Unless our "beloved" legislators could make some laws to help the people... Ha, dream on, they know, when free speech is indeed protected, immediately they will be targeted for all their corrupt dealings.
So if there is no law available, are there any societal framework we can rely on?
