A mother of one of the victims of childcare paedophile Ashley Paul Griffith has told a Brisbane court seeing details of her child's abuse on national television ripped her world apart.
It came as a former childcare manager accused of accessing a work computer without her former employer's consent and distributing confidential documents had her matter heard in Brisbane's Magistrates Court.
Yolanda Borucki's home was raided by police on August 15, 2023, just days after she appeared on Nine Entertainment's flagship program, A Current Affair.
On the program, Ms Borucki detailed alleged complaints of indecent behaviour made to the childcare provider regarding inappropriate conduct by an employee, Ashley Paul Griffith, nearly a year prior to his arrest in 2022.
In September, Griffith pleaded guilty to more than 300 charges against 60 children between 2003 and 2022 at early learning centres in Brisbane and Italy.
The complaints of indecent behaviour were reported to police and Griffith's employer, the Uniting Church, on October 8, 2021.
One of the alleged incidents involved a staff member of the childcare centre observing Griffith kneeling down in the fort of the centre with his face pressed against a young girl.
Another involved a complaint about Griffith "kissing" another young child in 2021.
A mother of one of the victims told the court she was informed of the abuse when Ms Borucki called her.
"She said a worker had been seen kissing my daughter and that the worker had been stood down pending an investigation," she recalled.
"I tried to contact her a few times after that to see where the investigation was up to and to ask for a copy but no-one would tell me anything."
The court heard details of an internal investigation commissioned by the Uniting Church into the complaints had produced a report with recommendations in November 2021.
The mother told the court she had never seen the report.
"We've been kept in the dark for three years … not being able to get any information at all but then reading it and seeing information on TV and the media," she said.
"[Friends] said [A Current Affair has] a whistleblower. We thought it was a parent from another centre and my husband rang me to say it was Yolanda."
"Seeing Yolanda on the TV, my world was just ripped apart … again."
Childcare centre welcomed Griffith
Several witnesses including an investigating detective and Uniting Church employees were called to give evidence.
The general manager of Uniting Early Learning, Belinda Briggs, told the court Ms Borucki had sent 17 emails from her work account to her personal account a few days after she was informed her role would be made redundant.
"There was a number of attachments to the emails, the most was 33 attachments," she told the court.
"They (the emails) contained information around an investigation into one of our childcare centres including children's names, drivers licences and phone numbers."
In cross-examination, Ms Briggs also revealed that the independent report conducted by the church regarding the complaints made against Griffith in 2021 had recommended that he continue his employment with the childcare centre.
She was asked: "Based on the substance of the recommendations made in November 2021, the church welcomed Mr Griffith back to his employment?"
"That report would indicate that," Ms Briggs responded.
